Registration

It is a legal requirement for all persons servicing fire extinguishers – or installing, servicing or commissioning fire detection or gas suppression systems – to be registered as an authorised person with the SAQCC-Fire. Registration needs to be renewed annually and the correct fees paid in full. Failure to comply will result in the technician being de-registered.

Fire Extinguisher Servicemen

To register as a trainee, the applicant must first successfully complete the five day course at one of the approved training centres and submit a certified copy of his certificate with his application for registration. Trainees must then work for a minimum period of six months under the direct supervision of a registered competent person. Both must be employed by an SABS 1475 Permit holding company.


Gas Suppression authorised person

Registration is via a competency test. Kindly email dgs@tiscali.co.za for an assessment application form.


Fire Detection authorised person

You will be required to complete the applicable approved training course.

Should an authorised person register for more than one category (e.g. Detection and Gas) the second and subsequent registration fee is R200 per annum.
Change of details fee is R300.
